The new Powder Meister really handles well and gives me a smooth, fine powder coat without any clogging at all. I especially like the new angle of the nozzle which gives me good access to virtually any tooth in the mouth. |

V-Prep & Occlusal Veneer Much appreciation is offered to Dr. David Sutton and Dr. Hubert Stevie for helping me understand this important concept.
The following is an example of a typical V-prep that has been promoted by Dr. David Sutton.
Preop To assure adequate occlusal reduction, I find it helpful to use a 2 mm round diamond and sweep away that part of the occlusal surface to be covered with porcelain.
Illustration of appropriate powdering
Notice the smooth surface of the preparation. Irregularities in the prep lead to difficulties in seating the restoration due to the way the milling process is done in endo mode (as seen below).
Proposal of restoration milled in endo mode.
Notice the difference in the proposed restoration in conventional milling mode. The software causes a significant reduction of needed porcelain in a critical area. This "unconventional" preparation style requires the restoration be milled in endo mode to assure adequate thickness of porcelain.
Try-in of the restoration. Notice the excellent fit that CEREC 3D provides!
Bonded restoration prior to any occlusal adjustments or polishing. Talk about accuracy!
Dr. Hubert Stevie's contribution to this important concept is shown above. Notice the greater lingual reduction and the central groove for positive locking. This central groove is very helpful in the cememtation process to assure correct seating of the restoration. If you haven't seen the All-New Powder Meister demonstrated, click the image below. |
