Instructions: maintenance
Simple maintenance of the Powder Meister is necessary for predictable use.
To maintain smooth on/off operation of the nozzle, clean out the base of the nozzle with air/water spray at least once a week to remove all traces of powder. After thoroughly spraying all powder out of the nozzle base, dry with air. Any excess water will be expelled during powdering. Note that the nozzle trigger is compressed to expose the nozzle base.
If periodic maintenance is not done, it may be necessary to disassemble the nozzle with the enclosed hex wrench to more thoroughly clean the inside. . Note: the critical area to be cleaned is marked in red.
Make sure that entrance hole to the nozzle is cleaned! Use a dental explorer to verify that this hole is completely open to its full width and that it has not been blocked by any powder residue. This very small hole in the nozzle tube is responsible for eliminating the large lumps that are commonly present in CEREC imaging powder. It is not necessary to pre-filter the imaging powder when using this instrument!
When re-assembling the nozzle, a periodontal probe can be used to re-establish the optimum distance between the 'trigger' of the nozzle and the base.
This distance is originally set at 5.5 millimeters. Any distance between 5.5 and 7 millimeters will be satisfactory.
[top]The powdering nozzle can be wiped with surface disinfectant to prepare for the next patient.
Additional nozzles are available from Patterson Dental. Order number PM-08 4615209
Change the cotton roll in the air-line filter every week. Failure to do so may result in a drop of air pressure to the Powder Meister and may result in clogging of the blue air tubing with powder.
