Powdering : antagonist image

METAL-BITE is an excellent bite registration material that doesn't require powdering.

Place METAL-BITE only on the prepared tooth and have the patient close against it. Be sure that any excess material is removed from the mesial and distal neighbor teeth. It is important that the mesial and distal teeth remain uncovered by the METAL-BITE to not interfere with the correlation of the antagonist image and the preparation image.

To minimize the spread of the bite registration material, place only a small amount. Be sure that the tooth preparation is completely dry and the opposing tooth on the opposite arch is wet. This will help the bite registration stick to the prepared tooth as the patient opens. To maintain accuracy it is important that the bite registration does not dislodge.

Any excess material that spreads to the mesial and distal neighbors can easily be removed with a scalpel blade.

As is seen in the images from the antagonist image catalogue, the mesial and distal neighbor teeth have been well powdered. Since the METAL-BITE does not require powdering, it is not critical that it be covered with powder. Notice the bright image of the bite registration in the images above even though the bite registration has not been powdered.
